Cinnabar Moth

(Tyria jacobaeae)

is a species of moth in the family Arctiidae (Arctiid moths) that can be found in most parts of the world due to their effectiveness in controlling ragwort, although their native range is Europe and central Asia. The name cinnabar comes from the red patches on their wings which look like the mineral cinnabar. They are a normal sized moth with a wingspan of 30-40 mm long. these moths fly around during the day and are toxic (the red colors serve as a warning).
