sadly you never know how old the specimens you buy from pet stores are because they are most likely wild-caught. it’s likely that fluffles is 6 or even 7 years old.

the tibial hooks and bulbous pedipalps are a dead give away of a mature male because males only get those after their maturing molt.

after a male matures into his hooks and “boxing gloves” they don’t have very much time to live after that, maybe a year, while females can live up to 30 years or so. it’s sad but that’s how it works.
